Community Service Program of the Aquaculture Study Program in Pela Village and Sangkuliman Village, Kota Bangun Sub-district, Kutai Kartanegara Regency, Year 2024

On August 3, 2024, the Aquaculture Study Program, in collaboration with BPPSPL Pontianak, carried out a community service program in two villages located in Kota Bangun Sub-district, Kutai Kartanegara Regency (Kukar).

In Sangkuliman Village, two topics were presented: “Design of Freshwater Fish Farming Pond Systems,” which provided guidelines on designing effective pond systems for freshwater aquaculture, and “Utilization of Local Materials for the Production of High-Quality, Competitive, and Sustainable Fish,” which focused on leveraging local resources to produce high-quality fish through sustainable and competitive approaches.

In Pela Village, the program presented two topics. The first topic, “Mahakam River Water for the Suitability of Cage Fish Farming,” discussed strategies to optimize the use of Mahakam River water for fish cultivation in floating cages. The second topic, “Enhancing Fish Health with Herbal Remedies,” focused on the application of natural herbal ingredients to maintain fish health.

This activity aimed to empower the local community with practical knowledge and skills in fish farming, while also supporting the development of the aquaculture sector in the region.
